We have great pleasure in inviting you to the forthcoming 8^th Asian BioCeramics Symposium to be held at the Indian Institute of Technology Madras, Chennai during Nov. 4-6, 2008. The Asian BioCeramics (ABC) Symposiums are conducted annually to promote young Asian researchers who are interested in bioceramics and related fields as well as to bring together top researchers worldwide to exchange research results and address open issues in all aspects of bioceramics.  To achieve the purpose, the ABC symposiums were held at various Asian countries: Tokyo (Japan, 1^st, 2001), Gyeongju (Korea, 2^nd, 2002), Fukuoka (Japan, 3^rd, 2003), Kongju (Korea, 4^th, 2004), Sapporo (Japan, 5^th, 2005), Bangkok (Thailand, 6^th 2006) and Osaka (Japan, 7^th 2007).

Chennai is the cultural capital of India with deep rooted traditions and famous for its hospitality. Many academic institutions and research institutes are actively involved in the broad areas of bioceramics, making Chennai an ideal venue for ABC 2008.  This year’s symposium, the eighth in the series of ABC symposiums, is of special significance as it has been organised as part of the Golden Jubilee celebrations of Indian Institute of Technology Madras, Chennai.
